Istockphoto exclusive photographer
Living in the north of Israel is a challence, but also extremely beautiful in a unique way. We have a chance to follow the footsteps of ancient civilizations and three climates come together bringing from each the flora and fauna. As a a visual artist I am attracted to the natural and organic. My Istock portfolio expresses mainly these same interests. Be it an interesting beetle landing in my back yard or the sun setting over Galilee.
My portfolio contains nice photos for Travel and Tourism and many are of historic, religious and cultural value. Bird watchers and nature lovers will find many suitable images for any nature related project. Thank you for your visit to my Istock portfolio and please come again! I would love to know how you used my images..
Washed Up – a stunning Art statement about sea shores
The artist: Alejandro Durán is a photographer, filmmaker and poet with roots planted in New York and Mexico.
He says on his site: With the Caribbean shores of the Yucatán peninsula as my studio, and the plastic garbage carried there by ocean currents from all parts of the globe as my material, WASHED UP is my attempt to turn trash into treasure.
After my initial disgust at the sheer quantity of garbage littering the beaches of Sian Ka’an, Mexico’s first federally protected biosphere, I wondered what I could do with these materials and how I could alchemize this ugliness. I collected bags and bags of trash that had floated in from thirty-nine nations on five continents, which I then transformed into site-specific sculptures.

GreenLantern: Liquid Wood LED Lamp Shines a Light on Your Favorite Plant

An amazing new material called Liquid Wood just made its debut in gorgeously curved lamp form. Developed by NuDe, the GreenLantern is a colorful LED lamp with a built-in planter for bringing a burst of greenery to your desk. Designed by Romolo Stanco, the GreenLantern is available in a variety of colors and patterns, and it can even be customized using a downloadable iPhone app!
The GreenLantern has two functions – it serves as a lamp and also as a planter. The lamp extends as an organic horn-like shape with a flower pot at its base. The “horn” is lined with an energy-efficient strip of LED lights specially designed for the GreenLantern. The low-energy bulbs emit a warm luminous glow that supports the photosynthesis process of the accompanying plant, creating a direct relationship between the lamp and host plant.
The lamp’s material is almost entirely organic as well. Liquid Wood is an organic polymer comprised of waste from wood by-products. The main ingredient is Lingin, an organic polymer derived from wood that is largely present in plant cell walls. This material is mixed with wood fibers in a process much like the creation of pulp when making paper. The resulting material is easily malleable when heated and can be injected into molds to produce an effect similar to plastic.
GreenLanterns have a slight aroma of toasted wood, which adds to the cozy atmosphere that their glow creates. The lamp illuminates with touch, rather than a bulky switch. If you plant herbs or a berry plant within the flower pot, the GreenLantern would be a feast for the senses of touch, sight, smell and taste! The lamps can be customized in terms of color, design, and of course plant choice, allowing customers to create the perfect organic lamp.

From Poor Richard to Modern Marketing tactics
How would Benjamin Franklin have done in the modern Media age? He said: “Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.”
So what is new under the sun, nothing much only now this message is spread by the trillions of digital devices. Today we put out and utilize on our digital devices a contant flow of media and knowledge, accessible for everyone by everyone. Who actually knows or remembers what is an Almanac?
Franklin borrowed the name “Richard Saunders” from the seventeenth-century author of the Apollo Anglicanus, a popular London almanac which continued to be published throughout the eighteenth century. Franklin created the Poor Richard persona based in part on Jonathan Swift’s pseudonymous character, “Isaac Bickerstaff.” In a series of three letters in 1708 and 1709, known as the Bickerstaff papers, “Bickerstaff” predicted the imminent death of astrologer and almanac maker John Partridge. Franklin’s Poor Richard, like Bickerstaff, claimed to be a philomath and astrologer and, like Bickerstaff, predicted the deaths of actual astrologers who wrote traditional almanacs. In the early editions of Poor Richard’s Almanack, predicting and falsely reporting the deaths of these astrologers—much to their dismay—was something of a running joke. However, Franklin’s endearing character of “Poor” Richard Saunders, along with his wife Bridget, was ultimately used to frame (if comically) what was intended as a serious resource that people would buy year after year. To that end, the satirical edge of Swift’s character is largely absent in Poor Richard. Richard was presented as distinct from Franklin himself, occasionally referring to the latter as his printer.
In later editions, the original Richard Saunders character gradually disappeared, replaced by a Poor Richard, who largely stood in for Franklin and his own practical scientific and business perspectives. By 1758, the original character was even more distant from the practical advice and proverbs of the almanac, which Franklin presented as coming from “Father Abraham,” who in turn got his sayings from Poor Richard.
So the question stays: if alive today, would Benjamin Franklin have invented the next big trend? Would he run a site with proverbs and quotes? Would he hve been a partner in the Almanac online?
The Google+ Project
Finally we got to know what the mysterious Google+ 1 button is for: the new bea stage Google+ Project to compete with Facebook.
This is going to be huge and so far reviews on various blogs are enthousiastic!
Real-life sharing, rethought for the web. I like that phrase!
Further Google writes about the Project:
Sharing is a huge part of the web, a part that we think could be a lot simpler. That’s why we’ve been working on adding a few new things to Google: to make connecting with people on the web more like connecting with them in the real world. We hope you like what we’ve cooked up so far. And stay tuned, because there’s more to come.
You share different things with different people. But sharing the right stuff with the right people shouldn’t be a hassle. Circles makes it easy to put your friends from Saturday night in one circle, your parents in another, and your boss in a circle by himself, just like real life.
I think only Google can invite you and I put in 2 requests, but maybe not, so if you happen to read this and have invits to give out please count me in kantertec@gmail.comThe Best Green Designs

10+ Awesome Tutorials on Vexel Art
Vexel Art [as seen on Design Was Here] is a style composed of multiple layered shapes and focuses on recreating an imagery using a raster program. The name came from a combination of vector and pixel design. It is an entirely pixel-based raster image that imitates the vector graphics style and not necessarily using Vector Programs.
The general idea is that they are raster images that look much like vector and in most cases are created using the same techniques. It may be composed using vector graphic techniques, however it becomes a vexel when the vector elements are rasterized and further manipulations are done in a raster program.
On this post you will learn how to create your own Vexel graphics through the beginner and intermediate tutorials.
Get to know Vexel and apply the technique.
I am certainly going to try this one day!
Holocaust Survivor Children Missing Identity
Today I like your attention for a very important project Eva Floersheim and myself have been runng since 1996.You will be amazed but the project grew from a few cases tovover 70 children profiles and even new cases are coming in. Schools and universities use “our” MI site for educational purposes about the Holocaust. The project is all done by just two women who fund this from their own near empty pockets and dream one time some philantropist comes along.
Holocaust Survivor Children try to locate information regarding their past with the help of the Missing Identity Project.Holocaust Survivors who were children at the time are still trying to locate information regarding their past, and perhaps you can help them. Some hope to find surviving relatives who can tell them about their parents and family. Others hope to find out the most basic information about themselves – their own name, their birth date and birthplace, the names of their parents. Sometimes the name these Holocaust Survivors had as children was not the name given to them by their parents when they were born. This was a cover name used during WWII or an invented name given to the young Holocaust Survivor after the war, when crossing borders illegally on their way to their new homeland. By looking at the photos and reading the profile of each young Holocaust Survivor Child, you may be able to help. |
